The Chicago City Clerk and the Chicago Park District are proud to announce the city’s second annual canine festival, Dog Day on the Green. Dog Day on the Green is a free family festival for dog owners, dog lovers, canine companions, and advocates. This exciting and unique event will takes place on Sunday, August 29th at beautiful Montrose Harbor, where Simonds and Montrose Drives meet.
Dog Day on the Green offers contests, interactive activities, educational seminars, and an array of local vendors catering to Chicago’s canine community. Attractions will include Hawk City K9 agility course, Ken Henry and Coral Reef demonstration, Lure Dog Training, and more. There will also be an educational area to help families learn more about caring for their pets and a kid’s corner co-organized by Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control and Project Safe Humane.
Sponsors Bissell, Mitsubishi, the Happy Husky Bakery among others will on-site showcasing some of their pet-friendly products including vacuum cleaners specially designed for pet owners, a Mitsubishi Outlander GT that is one of the leading vehicles for the safe transportation of pets, and gourmet dog treats. Univision Radio, 101.9 The Mix, WLS Radio, Radio Cosmos and Today’s Chicago Woman will be on-site giving away promotional items!
A variety of celebrities will be attending the event, including Skip Haynes of the hit 70’s folk band Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah. Mr. Haynes, a huge dog lover and advocate, will be flying from his home in Los Angeles to his native Chicago to join the canine-friendly festivities at Dog Day on the Green. Mr. Haynes is the author of the hit song Lake Shore Drive, and music lovers are in for a treat— Mr. Haynes has adapted the lyrics of Lake Shore Drive to celebrate Dog Day on the Green!
What’s more exciting and demonstrative of Haynes’ commitment to animal well-being, $2.00 of the proceeds from the sale of each Dog Day on the Green single or CD will be donated to Friends of Chicago Animal Care & Control.
Mr. Haynes will be arriving to Chicago on August 26th and will available for interviews during the days leading up to the event.
